Elvis & Company...

It was the fabulous wedding of the Beauty and the Biker! So, here we are at the World Famous Viva Las Vegas Wedding Chapel with two more “I-Do’s.” Tiffany and Chris came to the Chapel to get married from Oregon. They wanted to make thier wedding memorable….So, Elvis was the way to go for them. It’s been 9 years since the date was pre-set. Chris could not resist Tiffanys charm. Just a couple of lookers making it official here at the Viva Las Vegas Wedding Chapel. There were butterflies in the air and the weather was perfect! A handful, and then some of Chris’ and Tiffanys’ family and friends all made their way to the Elvis Chapel to witness their marriage.

With a license to ride and a marriage license in hand, Chris said “I Do” to his lovely Bride Tiffany. They had so many friends and family here to share in their joy. I am certain that once they announced that the wedding would be in Las Vegas, that no one could resist. The RSVP’s were many.They were surrounded by so much love. Chris and Tiffany really did remind me of Elvis and Priscilla. Mind you, Elvis really was a blonde. What a great looking couple! Wishing you both every bit of happiness you can stand! They topped their night off by riding off into the night to Larrys Hideway here in Las Vegas. Do you suppose they had Breakfast at Tiffanys the next morning? Just another classic Elvis wedding here at The Viva Las Vegas Wedding Chapel. Thanks to you both, and your super family and friends. Viva Italia!

So here we are in Fabulous Las Vegas with so many exciting weddings taking place daily. I arrive at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel to pick up my next Bride. And what do I see?? It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s a…No- It’s SUPERMAN!! What? Oh yes, I picked up Batman-Superman-Wonderwoman and Batgirl. Now I know I will be safe all night. In case you were wondering ..crime was down on the Las Vegas Strip because our action Super Heroes were in town for the weekend. I then begin to think…does Superman marry Wonderwoman? Or does Batgirl say yes to Batman after all these years? No silly, that would never happen. Just then I spot my beautiful Bride and Groom Francesca and Paolo from Italy with their marriage license in hand. They are both decked out, and ready to say “I do.” Oh me too…stay tuned for my next Wedding Blog ( I will get married ). Now everyone is in the Batmobile and off we go to the Viva Las Vegas Wedding Chapel. Four, Three, Two, One. Woohooo, what a time we are about to have.

You look maaaaarvelous! So,once again as I sign off, let me tell you that Francesca, Paolo and the rest of the Super Gang had a Super time! They dined at the Top of  the World restaurant at The Stratosphere Hotel where they could view the entire Las Vegas Strip ( for crime of course ) and to have a dinner fit for a Super Hero. Who’s your favorite Super Hero? I would have to go with ” Batgirl.”  I love hanging upside down. Marriage License

You see, Nevada is probably one of the easiest states to obtain a license.  No waiting.  No blood. No need to show documents of divorce.  Just present $60. cash and show your photo ID. Fill out a short document.  Boom.  Issued.

I applied for a license a little over six years ago and my experience was also, quite simple…..

The marriage bureau is open 365 days a year from 8:00am until midnight.  Ain’t Vegas great?

They will not accept credit cards, checks, or money orders. There is no waiting period, and no blood test is required. In addition, you will not need to present divorce papers.

For all legal marriages, the marriage license is required to be presented at the time of the wedding.

Without the marriage license, the minister will not perform the ceremony. The couple will be asked to reschedule & be charged a accordingly. Please note have your license ready when the limousine driver picks you up, they are on a schedule and are unable to turn back to your hotel.

Identification:

An original or certified copy of one of the following forms of identification will be required effective Jan 1, 2008:

• Driver’s License, Instruction Permit, or identification card issued by this State or another state
• Passport
• Foreign government issued ID card, including driver’s license (must include birth date)
• Matricula Consular Card
• Military Identification Card or Military Dependant Identification Card
• Certificate of Citizenship, Certificate of Naturalization, Permanent Resident Card or Temporary Resident Card
• Voter Identification Cards (must contain birth date)
• Birth Certificate and a secondary form of identification that contains the name and picture of the applicant such as:
  - Gaming/Sheriff’s Work Card
  - Employee ID card/badge
  - Membership card from establishment requiring ID for membership (Costco, Sam’s Club, etc.)
  - Credit Card

Marriage License Requirements:

• Applicants must be a male and a female, at least 18 years of age, and not nearer of kin than second cousins or cousins of half blood, and not having a husband or wife living.
• Applicants may be required to prove their age. Those not having acceptable identification to prove age may be refused a marriage license. (Faxed copies, damaged identification, privately issued I.D., check cashing cards or photocopies of identification are unacceptable.)
• Social Security Numbers are required on the Affidavit of Application for a Marriage License. Please know your Social Security Number. Those without knowledge of their Social Security Number may be refused a marriage license. It is recognized that non U.S. citizens will not have a Social Security Number.
• There is no blood test and no waiting period after a license is issued.

Divorced Applicants:

• Are required to know the Month/Day/Year/City and State of their divorce. The divorce must be final and filed with the courts in the state or country granted. You are not required to bring the divorce decree.

Minor applicants, ages 16 or 17 (not yet age 18):

• Must have consent of a parent or legal guardian. Minors will need an original or certified copy of the birth certificate which lists the name of the consenting parent. (No photocopies of documents may be accepted.) Legal guardians are required to present a certified copy of the court ordered guardianship papers. (No photocopies may be accepted.)A parent or guardian is required to have acceptable identification to prove they are the parent on the birth certificate or the legal guardian on the guardianship order.
• If it is not possible for the parent or guardian to be present, an original, notarized statement in English must be presented with the certified copy of the birth certificate or a certified copy of the guardianship order at the time of the issuance of the marriage license. The notarized statement should contain the parent or legal guardian’s full name, relationship to the minor, minor’s full name, birth date and the statement that the parent or legal guardian gives consent for the minor to marry. All documents must be in English or translated into English by a notary.
• A person less than 16 years of age may marry only if either parent or legal guardian files an action, pays all court fees as provided by law, and presents a court order, from a Nevada State Court, authorizing the Clerk to issue the marriage license. Applicants should contact an attorney to prepare the documents. This office has no forms.
