Meet Monica…And Let Her Help You with YOUR Viva Las Vegas Wedding!

Las Vegas Wedding Planner
Here’s Monica, hard at work scheduling weddings and helping with all those wedding details!

Chances are good that when you call Viva Las Vegas Weddings to book or plan your wedding day in Vegas, you’ll speak to Monica, one of our friendliest and most helpful wedding staffers! (She’ll even chat with you online on our website at www.vivalasvegasweddings.com Monica is a HUGE asset to our chapel, since she’s among the rare few NATIVE Las Vegans. (It seems that almost all of our residents came from somewhere else and have migrated to Vegas because of its climate and great career opportunities.) Because Monica grew up here, she knows the city very well and is a good source of advice not only on wedding ideas, but also on great things to see and do while you’re honeymooning in Vegas!

On her days off, Monica loves hiking at nearby Red Rock Canyon (check out our Beautiful Red Rock Wedding Package and the stunning scenery on our website!) or walking along the Las Vegas Strip, checking out all the casino and resort happenings. (You can ask her about her favorites when you call!)

Asked about the best part of her job, Monica says, ” My favorite part of working at Viva Las Vegas Wedding Chapel is meeting people from all over the world and seeing how in love and happy couples are.” When asked what the hardest part of her job is, she replies “Nothing really! Viva Las Vegas is a very well organized company and well-maintained.” (We will ask her again on Valentine’s Day or Halloween, when we’re doing up to 100 weddings in a single day!)

We also asked Monica about the sweetest, funniest or most memorable event she has witnessed at the chapel. “Something I will always remember is (when) one of the wedding guests surprised his girlfriend. He asked her to marry him at the chapel, when she thought they were only here to see his dad renewing his wedding vows. The girl had no idea she was about to receive a marriage proposal!”

Wedding Limo Vegas
From the planning to the kiss, our wedding staffers aim to make your Las Vegas wedding experience seamless and memorable!

Sometimes the best stories our wedding staffers have to share are about the funny things that can go wrong during a wedding. For Monica, this was when a beautiful bride tripped on her dress as she was walking down the aisle. If you ask our wedding planners for advice, they’ll nearly always tell brides to practice walking in their wedding dress and shoes before the ceremony. Make sure the dress isn’t too long, and make sure to practice walking on carpet in heels! (Of course, this doesn’t apply to brides who opt for barefoot for the Elvis Blue Hawaii or Beach Party Themed Weddings!)

Offering up further advice for couples planning their weddings, Monica adds, “Always ask for help and plan ahead of time. Don’t assume something is a certain way–actually spend time doing research and asking experts on the process of getting married.” When you book a wedding at Viva Las Vegas Weddings, you’ll receive an online packet with instructions for every aspect of your wedding day. Reading it and asking questions ahead of time will make sure that your day is exactly what you dream it to be, and that all goes as perfectly as possible!

Say “hello” to Monica if you call or see her at the front counter on your wedding day!

Meet Alyssa, Our Amazing Viva Las Vegas Wedding and Reception Specialist!

Alyssa at Viva Event Center
Alyssa knows what it takes to make your wedding reception a huge success!

Bubbly Alyssa, one of Viva Las Vegas’s hardest working wedding and reception specialists never hesitates to tell you how much she loves her job. And it shows! Alyssa has worked at Viva for over two years, having started off as an intern while studying hospitality and event planned at the University of Nevada Las Vegas. She speaks openly about how much working at Viva has impacted her life, and about how honored she is to speak with engaged couples all over the world, helping to plan their weddings and receptions in Las Vegas.

When asked what is the hardest part of her job, Alyssa says, “Not being able to spend more time with couples. Sometimes we speak to them long distance for months before their wedding, and we really get to know them over the phone. But, if their wedding falls on a very busy day, we don’t get the chance to chat with them as much as we’d like in person. It’s their big day, and they are so in love, and so thankful for what we do. Still, I do cherish the brief moments I have with them, coordinating their wedding before they go down the aisle.”

Alyssa says the easiest part of the job is being kept entertained by all the fun themed weddings. Coordinating some of the wild and crazy weddings makes working at Viva unlike any ordinary job. And that’s a huge understatement. Alyssa puts it like this,”You can feel like you’re backstage at the VMA awards!” Her favorite wedding to coordinate? The Gothic Theme…Ceremonies that include fog, tombstones, dramatic lighting and eerie music. Only at Viva Las Vegas!

At what other job can you fit right in wearing a mask?

Alyssa loves watching the constant growth of the chapel, and revels in her ability to grow along with it. Viva Las Vegas Weddings recently opened its new Viva Las Vegas Event Center, to accommodate larger weddings and receptions. Says Alyssa, “We’ve grown from hosting 50 person receptions to booking receptions for 150 or more people!” Now that’s a LOT of growth. But, for Alyssa, it’s just one more way to challenge her creativity and expertise in the field of reception and event planning. She adds, “I have two of the most amazing bosses to back me up,” referring to chapel co-owners Ron Decar and Jamie Richards. “They’ve given me the opportunity of a lifetime!”

Alyssa on the right, clearly having too much fun at work…. 🙂

Alyssa is now working with corporations, travel agents and convention planners, even people from the world of politics. She says, “I’m SUPER excited to be planning receptions with gourmet buffet dinners and custom entertainment. We’ve got an incredible dance floor and a stage with theatrical lights and incredible sound. The Event Center has so much in the way of unique possibilities for brides. I’d say the possibilities are endless!”

Alyssa’s enthusiasm and eagerness to help is palpable. If you’re thinking of a wedding in Las Vegas—themed, traditional, or a wedding with Elvis—you couldn’t be luckier than if you happen to get Alyssa on the line! Meet Olivia, Viva Las Vegas Wedding Planner Extraordinaire!

Oliva the Las Vegas Wedding Planner
Olivia, ready to coordinate your Halloween wedding, dressed up and posing with …Dead Elvis?

If you’ve called our chapel with questions about your upcoming Viva Las Vegas Wedding, chances are good you’ve spoken with perky staff member Olivia. You’ll know because you can hear her smiling right over the phone! Olivia’s been with us nearly three years, and she explains, “I do a bit of everything. I book weddings, coordinate them, assist customers with problems, check them in–I do everything but drive limos!” In fact, Olivia was once called upon to be a female Elvis…(We more or less expect this sort of thing at our themed wedding chapel. Nothing surprises Olivia…so far!)

Asked what is the hardest part of her job, Olivia answers, “That’s a tough one. I would say it’s hardest when we get so busy that we can’t talk to couples as long as we’d like to, to get to know them better.” But, the best part, according to Olivia, is the creativity. “We’re not a regular chapel. It’s really nice being able to make couples’ dreams come true. We have fun here, and that’s what weddings are all about!”

Olivia continues about her crazy-fun job: “My favorite holiday at Viva is definitely Halloween! Halloween is actually Ron Decar’s (the Viva Las Vegas Wedding Chapel owner) favorite holiday. We decorate everything, and even the employees get to dress up! We even have costume contests and have Gothic/Cemetery Weddings all day long, inside and out in the Garden and Gazebo.”

What’s her most outrageous wedding request to date? “There was a wedding I booked LAST MINUTE. The groom told me he wanted the most unique EVER. This made me think that I really needed to get creative. The wedding ended up including a Pink Caddy Entrance with Elvis driving into the chapel and Darth Vader standing at the altar. Elvis and Darth started doing battle, then Michael Jackson broke out dancing, all the while Cirque du Soleil acrobats were flying overhead! Let’s just say the couple was very pleased.”

What’s Olivia’s best advice for couples in regard to their wedding? “Don’t get so stressed out and overwhelmed that you don’t enjoy your special day. I see so many brides come in
with a mad or sad face because they are so worried about everything coming out perfectly. They don’t really take in their special moment. Of course it is a stressful day, but do everything in advance so you can enjoy it. It’s okay and natural to BE nervous. But a good, excited type of nervous. ”

How did Olivia wind up with such a fantastic one-of-a-kind career? Olivia was born in Havana, Cuba and came to the U.S. after winning a lottery at the age of seven. She lived in Miami, New York, and Pennsylvania before settling in Las Vegas. Says Olivia, “I am SO glad we settled here!” Las Vegas is the capital of the universe for jobs that combine the uniqueness, glamour and fun. All of which Olivia has down in spades. Olivia has been on a winning streak her whole life, it seems. And we at the chapel are SO glad she settled here, too!
