I need a sign! Tell me where to go? Hi, it’s me again Diana your friendly Chauffeur from the Viva Las Vegas Wedding Chapel. Today I am told to ”go to the sign”….Within minutes I am at the Four Seasons Resort Hotel and I am picking up my next Vow Renewal couple. They are accompanied by a few of their dear friends and there daughter. Their daughter Sophia, was just cute as a bug and so sweet. A little princess indeed.

At the Viva Las Vegas Chapel we have couples from all over the world as you can see in my past blogs. Most of them make their initial plans over the internet and make there way to Fabulous Las Vegas. Peter and Pernille are from Denmark! Oh, and for those of you that do not know….if you are not much of a phone person, but you need some information regarding a Wedding or Vow Renewel, we have Livechat. Go to our website attached WWW.VivaLasVegasWeddings.com and speak to a live Wedding Reservationist. Just press the button that says Livechat, it is red. We are always happy to help and answer your questions.

Peter and Pernille have been married for 10 years and have always wanted to get married by the King. They chose our Las Vegas Sign Wedding/Vow Renewal. In this package, we pick you up in a beautiful stretch limousine at your hotel on “The Strip,”and carry you off to the Las Vegas Sign to make your wedding dreams come true. There are flowers for the Bride and a matching boutonnaire for the Groom. Within a matter of minutes, the Bride and Groom are married by Elvis. Your witnesses are all of the visitors who are just at the sign to take a memorable picture of their visit to Las Vegas. Just imagine it…you and your lovely Bride are dancing away below the Las Vegas Sign and Elvis is serrenading the two of you. Happy onlookers are now your guests at your 10 year wedding renewal. Your new found friends are enjoying your nuptials and sharing in your joy and begin to sing with Elvis just for you….Viva Las Vegas! …Viva las Vegas! I’ll say that again..Viva las Vegas!

The energy is fantastic, and the photos are so great. I have attached a photo of the great looking couple at the sign. I am not a professional photographer, but the Chapel does supply one with this wedding package. The black and whites on these weddings at the sign are just amazing. Keep that in mind…

Peter, Pernille and Princess, thank you and your super fun friends for a great afternoon of fun in the sun! I am now Finnish. No, you are Finnish. Pernille is from Finland. Hugs to all of you. I’ll see you again in ten years, how about a James Bond themed Wedding then Peter and Pernille???

Until we meet again,

Diana

So, you’re on your way out of town. Your destination is Vegas. It’s a hot summer day. Your lucky number is 10 and your favorite color is black. You arrive at the Roulette table with your Bride of 10 years on your arm, and place your bet. You feel LUCKY! You go all in. You are looking to have an unforgettable weekend in Las Vegas. You are only there to win. As the roulette wheel starts to spin, you turn to your Bride and you say..” will you marry me again?” Your beautiful blushing Bride says ‘Yes” with as much excitement as the first time you asked ten years ago. You lay a big smooch on her and the world is completely shut out just for that moment. It’s just you Aaron and Jennah. Then you here, Black 10! You’re a winner. Wow,what a way to start your weekend in Vegas! A DOUBLE WIN…

Well, I know it all sounds so movie like, but boy when I saw the two of you and the rest of your entourage come out of the Casino…this is where I went. I guess you could say I have a colorful imagination. I like to call it technicolor. Ha ha. Your costumes were just great. You came to Vegas to play, win and have some fun. Aaron and Jennah chose a themed vow renewal for their fun. Congratulations on 10 years of marriage. I love the fact that everyone stayed in costume for the rest of the evening. Ya see, it doesn’t just have to be Halloween to dress up. You were the talk of the town. I can only imagine what that smokey room would have looked like back in the day. You really looked as if you stepped out of time and were ready to whoop it up ” Old Vegas Style.” I watched people as you would walk by, and I too think they were visiting that black and white movie screen. Aaron is in the heating and cooling business, and Jennah is a teacher. So I guess Aaron will forever remain” Hot For Teacher.” Sounds like a great song titlte huh????

If a vow renewal is in your future, and you don’t know where to turn ..Make a right turn and make your exit Las Vegas Blvd. 1205 Las Vegas Blvd! We’ll be waiting for you at the Viva Las Vegas Wedding Chapel to recapture the day you said “I do.”

We all know Elvis is and always will be The King. But have you thought exactly why that is? Well, since we know most of the Elvii in Las Vegas and hold our own Elvis themed weddings, we like to think we are experts when it comes to the boy from Tupelo. Here are five reasons why we think Elvis will always be the top hound dog.

1. Shag Carpet on the Ceiling

If you’ve ever been to his house in Graceland, you know what we’re talking about. If not, it is simply something to be experienced. In several rooms of his gigantic mansion in Memphis, not only is there shag carpet all over the floor, he had it installed on the freaking ceiling!

Luckily, Elvis never found out that shag carpet went out of style, and it’s there to always be remembered for anyone taking the pilgrimage out to Tennessee.

2. The Elvis Sandwich

Bananas. Peanut butter. Bacon. Three great tastes that no one had ever thought of before Elvis came along and introduced it to the world. Now, people around the world have tried and fallen in love with the absolutely ridiculous sandwich aptly named “The Elvis.”

Yeah, it ended up killing Elvis, but he was notorious for eating them every day. As with all decadence, enjoy in moderation, folks!

3. Rhinestone Jumpsuit

Come on, who else could actually pull this off? Rhinestones were a staple of the country music world for a while, but only Elvis could make it part of his mythos.

Not only did he pull off a rhinestone encrusted jumpsuit, he also wore a cape! If you’re not a Baron or a superhero, you absolutely should not be allowed to wear a cape. But Elvis somehow managed to just make it work.

4. He Changed Music

Back when he was just getting started out, Elvis made a seemingly innocuous appearance on the Milton Berle show. He and his band performed a song first recorded by Willie Mae Thornton in 1952, called “Hound Dog,” much in the same way he had been performing for years before, by sashaying and swaying his hips to the music.

He had no way of knowing the world would explode! Parents everywhere lost their minds, while teenage girls’ hearts practically thumped out of their chests. He was dubbed “Elvis the Pelvis” and protests were heard in town halls everywhere. Unfortunately for the offended, the face (and hips) of music was instantly changed forever.

5. He Started His Car by Shooting it!

Elvis bought a 1971 De Tomaso Pantera for his girlfriend Linda Thompson but often drove it himself. Unfortunately, the engine was kind of a dud. When the car broke down, stranding him in the middle of Memphis, Elvis had about had enough. He had the car towed back to Graceland where it still wouldn’t start. While regaling the story to his friend George Klein, Elvis took out a gun and shot the car…and it started!

An avid collector of guns and other memorabilia, Elvis would go on to blow even more holes into the poor car. Luckily someone bought it after his death and had it fixed up, but the memory of Elvis’ eccentricity lives on forever with stories like this.

What’s your favorite thing about Elvis that confirms his King status on his 75th birthday?

I haven’t worked for Viva Las Vegas wedding chapel for very long, but I’ve already noticed a disturbing trend: people thinking that Vegas weddings are cheap substitutes for the real thing! Listen, just because our prices are so low you couldn’t limbo underneath them doesn’t mean the wedding is cheap. They’re just as reputable as other places.

How do I know? Because I’ve done it myself!

I met my wife late last summer. I quickly proposed (fearing someone attractive might snatch her up!) and we started our plans for the wedding. It being her second marriage and my second engagement, neither of us cared to revisit the hassles of a traditional wedding. We wanted something fun. An Elvis wedding in Las Vegas it is!

For a “cheap Vegas wedding” it was certainly more romantic, fun and tear-inducing than even we had imagined. Friends showed up literally from all over the U.S. to attend and those abroad watched on live video feed. We had a great Elvis wedding, a fun and unpretentious ceremony, and we both finally got what we’d wanted since we first locked eyes: to be married to one another.

There was nothing “bogus” or “cheap” about it. It was not a marriage borne out of convenience or drinking (that was the night before, duh!), it was purely out of love and wanting our wedding to be OUR wedding. It was shiny, noisy, and yes, a little cheesy. It was fantastic.

So if you’re reading this and for some reason of the opinion that the weddings at Viva Las Vegas wedding chapel are just cheap Vegas weddings, think that no longer. Don’t believe what you see in the movies – I can personally tell you that although the prices are low, it doesn’t mean what you get is a cheap substitute!

Some misguided unfortunates feel that getting married in Las Vegas isn’t quite as glamorous as we know it is. There is a misconception that the weddings we and other chapels in Vegas provide aren’t “real” or not as reputable as traditional weddings at your local church. If your future spouse needs a little convincing, here are five ways to win them over to your side!

1. Slip Hints in During Conversation

Try inserting hints into everyday conversation with your loved one. If they have Las Vegas on their mind, eventually they’ll at least allow you to show them why you want to visit Sin City for your nuptials!

Examples:

Future Spouse: “Can you go out to get some milk?”

You: “Sure thing. I’ll go to the corner store, where they have those little slot machines like they have everywhere in beautiful Las Vegas.”

Future Spouse: “What kind of cufflinks should I get for the wedding?”

You: “How about some with dice on them, like they have at every craps table in beautiful Las Vegas?”

Future Spouse: “Well, I’m off to work. Love you.”

You: “VEGAS!!!!”

2. Only Play Elvis Music and Movies

Throw out all your old movies and music…well, ok, don’t throw them out, but go out and grab all the Elvis tunes and flicks you can find. Whenever your significant other is around, have an Elvis movie on in the background! Of course, the best selection is “Viva Las Vegas!”

Going out to the movies? Listen to “Can’t Help Falling in Love with You” by Elvis on the way there and mention how great it would be to have that played at your wedding! Lounging around at the pool? Sing along to “Hound Dog” and stare your fiancée straight in the eye. Soon you’ll be planning your own Elvis wedding.

3. Pretend you’re at a Casino wherever you go

You’re at a fancy restaurant for a night out with your fiancée. Every time the waiter brings you something, get overly excited. When the meal comes out, jump up in your chair like you won a huge hand in poker!

Or say you’re getting a Coke out of a vending machine. When the bottle comes tumbling out, scream “Jackpot!” like a Lord of the Rings slots machine just spilled tokens all over your shoes from the huge winnings!

Eventually, your future spouse will catch the fever of fun and excitement that only Las Vegas can offer and you will soon be on the plane there!

4. Get Parents on your Side

The average traditional wedding costs around $20,000 these days. Both your parents and your fiancée’s parents are going to flip when they see how much money they can save by letting you run off to Vegas for the wedding! Even if they join you, it’s still a huge bundle of savings to let us do all the hard work for you.

After the parents are on your side, it’s only a matter of time until your future spouse caves and will at least talk to you about the possibility of going. This also goes for siblings, cousins, best friends, and whoever delivers your mail!

5. Bribery

If all else fails, it’s time for bribery! That new car they’ve wanted to buy? It’s totally theirs if you two get married in Las Vegas. Fiancée wants to paint the bathroom bright pink? Done. Just get the tickets for Sin City. Going potty while sitting in a giant box of Pepto Bismol is worth it!

Consider the ceremony itself as well. If they still really want a traditional wedding but you want the glitz of The Strip, we offer wedding packages for every need, including ones found in tiny churches found across America! Meet your future spouse halfway and you might just be surprised what happens.

Seems to me it’s tougher to think of reasons NOT to get married by Elvis, but some people need convincing for some reason. Here are the top 5 reasons you should jump at the chance to get married by the King of Rock ‘n Roll!

1. The Music

No church organs played by your Aunt Martha here, just good ol’ fashioned rock! From “Blue Suede Shoes” to “(Just Wanna Be Your) Teddy Bear,” you’ll find that our Elvii (that’s the plural of Elvis, you know…) know all the hits and a few more obscure tunes. They’re all mixed into the ceremony and will make you feel like you’re back in the recording studio with Elvis and his bandmates.

2. The Atmosphere

Whether you’re looking to feel like you’re in the middle of Hawaii or downtown Las Vegas, getting married by Elvis in Las Vegas can transport you to another world! In love with Elvis’ pink caddy? We have a wedding package for that! Want to sing “Viva Las Vegas” while standing in front of the famous Vegas sign? Yep, we’ve got a package for that!

3. The Story After

What sounds better?

“We had a great wedding, it was very beautiful and the ceremony went off without a hitch.”

“WE WERE MARRIED BY ELVIS IN LAS VEGAS! BEST WEEK EVER!”

You come back to work on Monday bleary-eyed but elated. Everyone wonders why you’re glowing so much. You spend the afternoon telling stories about The Strip, Fremont Street, HofBrauHaus, and most importantly, Elvis officiating your wedding. You are now the coolest person in the office.

4. Less Stress

Weddings are stressful enough. Letting us handle the load will help take the strain off your brain! For our Elvis weddings, we go for pure fun and none of the usual mess that accompanies megaexpensive weddings that you have to plan yourself. Getting married by Elvis in Las Vegas can be your ticket to a nervous breakdown free trip into marriage! Just say the bride’s mantra, “I’m the bride, it’s not my problem,” and let us do the dirty work!

5. It’s Friggin’ Elvis, Dude!

Elvis! Who gets married by Elvis? You do! You’re one of the elite few that can make this claim to fame. What’s cooler than getting married by Elvis in Las Vegas? Nothing!

Cycle through our famous Elvis themed weddings and pick the one that fits you best! Give us a holler today to get married by Elvis in Las Vegas, you’ll be all shook up!

Be it “Jailhouse Rock” or “In the Ghetto,” everyone has a favorite Elvis song. Seeing as how we’re the premiere Elvis themed wedding chapel in Las Vegas, we happen to have quite a few favorites!

Hound Dog

First recorded by Willie Mae Thornton in 1952, “Hound Dog” became popular when Elvis got a hold of it in 1956 and played it during an appearance on the Milton Berle show. This was the same television appearance that sparked controversy across the nation and had parents everywhere balking at “Elvis the Pelvis.” During the recording of the song, Elvis insisted on getting a perfect performance, and ultimately recorded 31 takes of the song before getting it the way we hear it today.

(Let Me Be Your) Teddy Bear

“Teddy Bear” was the third of four #1 hit singles Elvis had in 1957. Not only was it #1 on the pop charts, it also was his fourth #1 single on the R&B chart and even had a week-long stint at #1 on Country charts! The song was co-written by Bernie Lowe, who helped start the careers of Bobby Rydell and Chubby Checker.

(You’re the) Devil in Disguise

His last top ten single on the R&B charts, “Devil in Disguise” still reached #3 on the Pop charts in the United States. However, it was a much bigger hit in the UK, reaching #1 on the charts and selling over 500,000 units, certifying it as a “Gold” record. Famously, when John Lennon heard the song, he said it sounded like Elvis had become like Bing Crosby! We all make mistakes, John.

Blue Hawaii

The title track from Elvis’ 1961 movie of the same name, “Blue Hawaii” is a remake of a (coincidentally enough) Bing Crosby song from 1937. The soundtrack to the movie, the first of three based in Hawaii, spent 79 weeks on the Pop Albums charts, 20 of those at #1! The movie soundtrack also featured the hit single “Can’t Help Falling in Love With You,” a popular song performed during Elvis themed weddings everywhere. Like our Elvis Blue Hawaii wedding…

Viva Las Vegas

Last but not least, the reason why we are who we are! Though the film Viva Las Vegas is considered one of Elvis’ best films, the soundtrack was mired by budget strains and bad decisions. However, the title track managed to survive and has been featured in dozens of movies, commercials, and television programs. The song is also the fight song for the University of Northern Las Vegas!

We shared ours! What are some of your favorite Elvis songs?

As a species, humans are constantly evolving. Pantaloons are out and baggy shorts are in. Horse and buggy are passé and Dodges with horse power are a must. 8-tracks are… um… what are 8-tracks again? Well, whatever they were, they’ve been replaced by MP3s. And the hunt and gathering activities that once filled our day with exercise and activity (not to mention survival) have been replaced with expensive gym memberships and post-workout smoothies. But what has your town or city done lately to help your wedding ceremony evolve? The answer is probably nothing—unless your town happens to be Las Vegas, or, as we like to call it, Wedding Central.

You Want it Your Way

In most cities around the globe, weddings are held in the same churches, halls, hotels and historical mansions as they’ve always been. The ceremony is performed by the same preacher or justice of the peace, and the decorations consist of the same flowers, materials, lights, and centerpieces we’ve all seen before. But Las Vegas is different. Las Vegas is an ever-evolving adult playground for brides and grooms to be. The Viva Las Vegas Wedding Chapel alone keeps pace with current movies, events and social trends to help you design a wedding ceremony that is as individual as you are, and as current as this evening’s tide. It’s possible that this is why about 5% of all the wedding licenses issued in the United States each year are issued in—you guessed it—Vegas! After all, where else can you have an Elvis impersonator read your vows or a child of the night bite your wrist during your ceremony?

But Wait—there’s More

Of course, the constantly evolving wedding services offered within the state of Las Vegas are just one reason why such a large number of couples decide to begin their new lives here. In addition, Vegas is an inexpensive one-stop-shop for your bachelor/bachelorette party, wedding ceremony, reception and honeymoon needs. It is the perfect place for your friends and family to go and be a part of your wedding while still enjoying their trip by going to shows, enjoying great food and having fun playing the slots or tables.
