Summer at Viva Las Vegas Weddings means a lot of Hawaiian shirts, sandals, and many of our popular Elvis Blue Hawaii and Beach Party themed weddings. (Bare feet are okay, too!) We’ve got the palm trees, ocean mist, and all the scenic props for a fun-filled ceremony reminiscent of summers past. Pictured here is our Beach Party wedding, which can be officiated by your choice of Surfer Dude, Elvis, Stoned Hippie, or wacky Reverend Rainbow as “minister.”
The Beach Party wedding includes your favorite Beach Boys tunes, flowers, photography and DVD, round-trip limousine service and your names in lights out on our marquee on the Las Vegas Strip after the ceremony! (Guests will want to bring beach togs and Hawaiian shirts as well as their cameras to capture that picturesque moment when you exit the chapel through the doors just below the sign!)
Brides can choose to be carried down the aisle on a surfboard by our hunky surfer dudes, or some couples prefer to be escorted by them as they walk to the altar together. White bikinis and veils are always an option for this wedding! For couples celebrating an anniversary, this makes a casually memorable way to renew your vows in front of family and friends, in person, or watching online!
Our Beach Party Wedding Package includes:
Surfer Dude, Elvis, or Reverend Rainbow as Minister

Matching Boutonniere for the Groom
10 Ceremony Prints

History buffs, have we got a Las Vegas themed wedding for you! Get married in Vegas by a Roman centurion, or by the Caesar of your choice! (Shakespeare fans will go with Julius!) While it’s not on our menu of themed wedding packages, simply choose our Gladiator Wedding or Egyptian themed wedding package and request Caesar or a Roman soldier as your minister. As an upgrade, add Cleopatra as your maid of honor…or the two of you can come costumed as Antony and Cleopatra yourselves. Suggest that your guests wear Roman fashion and turn the whole wedding ceremony into a toga party! (We call it the Wedding Toga Challenge!)
Our Gladiator and Egyptian-themed weddings convert into a Roman theme with ease. Just let us know your preferences and we will customize the package as you choose from a Pharaoh, Gladiator or Centurion for your wedding officiant. Your Cecil B. DeMille-worthy wedding can include a cast of characters…an Egyptian dancing girl, slave boys carrying the bride (or Cleopatra) down the aisle on Cleopatra’s throne, smoke effects, a candle lighting ceremony, theatrical lights and sets, not to mention flowers, photography and video, and limousine service to and from your Las Vegas Strip hotel! (And, as always, you can choose to have your wedding streamed live on the Internet.)
You’ll have spine-tingling background music to set the mood. Best of all, you can combine your toga-style wedding ceremony with a stay at Caesars Palace, if you’re up for a TOTALLY themed wedding and honeymoon adventure! (You’ll blend right in, walking through the casino in your Roman duds to catch your Viva Las Vegas limousine curbside.)
For more information on your custom Roman wedding, visit us at www.vivalasvegasweddings.com. Click on Themed Weddings and see all the frills and options under our Gladiator Wedding or Egyptian Wedding packages. See you in ancient Rome for your wedding of the centur–ion!
On a recent Saturday, the local newspaper, the Las Vegas Review-Journal, hung out with us to document a typical day at Viva Las Vegas Weddings. While we had several elegantly traditional weddings going on that day, it’s easy to see why our wild and wacky Themed Weddings got the photographer’s attention most of the time! It’s pretty amazing just to be a guest witnessing ONE of our themed ceremonies, but a whole day of them–with all the costume and set changes involved– can mean sensory overload for those who aren’t used to it!
If you’d like just a taste of some lesser-known facts included in the story on our chapel, here’s an excerpt from the article, below:
(Ron) DeCar opened the chapel in 1999 after 14 years as lead singer and emcee in “Folies Bergere” at the Tropicana. He says the chapel typically hosts about 300 weddings a month. Its record is 550 in a month. On 7/7/07, 150 couples got hitched, and 230 on 11/11/11.
Just over half of all weddings at Viva Las Vegas are traditional. And the theme weddings? “I think it’s people who are, obviously, more lighthearted and want to do something crazy and don’t want to have a mundane, normal thing,” DeCar says.
But the day isn’t all about fog machines, flashing lights and costumed characters. There are also couples such as Lee McCulloch and Stuart Dootson, who came to Las Vegas from England to get married. They’ve been together 17 years, and while nobody is there to see them marry, the chapel live-streams each ceremony for far-off family and friends.
At 4 p.m. comes an Elvis-themed wedding. And while an Elvis wedding probably never can be devoid of cheesiness — vows include promises “every day of my life to be a hunka hunka burning love” and that “I will never have suspicious minds” — watching the couple end the ceremony by dancing to “It’s Now or Never” is sort of adorable.
With his entertainment industry know-how and hefty contact list, DeCar can concoct just about any sort of ceremony. He once put on a Liberace ceremony that included a song by a Cher impersonator, and another time crafted a ceremony that included Mr. Spock from “Star Trek” teleporting into a Camelot theme.
With lights, music, smoke effects, actors and, most of all, the sense of showmanship that go into every ceremony, “every half hour is a performance,” DeCar says.
Many of the folks who come to us for one of our creative wedding themes are renewing their vows for an anniversary, so don’t be shy about calling to do this, too, if you’re already married! For more information, visit our website or call us at 702-384-0771. www.vivalasvegasweddings.com
BEST GOTH WEDDING DATE EVER! Friday the 13th happens this October, and what a perfect wedding date for a hauntingly beautiful wedding in Las Vegas! Since it’s nearly Halloween, AND Friday the 13th, we’ve got Gothic and Graveyard Wedding Specials galore for couples who want something a LITTLE dark and different for their wedding or wedding wow renewal ceremony.
Friday the 13th weddings are almost like having an extra Halloween at our Viva Las Vegas Wedding Chapel. We deck the place out as a cemetery with tombstones, fog and theatrical lighting. Choose from an array of scary ministers, too, or go for a full-on Rocky’s Horror themed musical wedding. Your Dracula or Grim Reaper minister emerges from a coffin to perform the ceremony, or select from a wide range of other horrifyingly cool character ministers. As an upgrade, you can even have live “vampires” flying overhead in the chapel during your candle lighting ceremony. Cobwebs and sinister organ music also enhance the gruesome atmosphere. Included in any of our Gothic, Graveyard, or Rocky’s Horror Themed Weddings are luxurious limo service, photos and flowers–black roses are most requested. See all of our Friday the 13th wedding specials at:http://www.vivalasvegasweddings.com/las-vegas-wedding-packages/holidays-special-events/friday-the-13th
If you’re more interested in a romantic ceremony by moonlight, we can arrange for a darkly romantic evening wedding in either our Outdoor Gazebo or Garden Chapels. You choose.
Call us at 1-800-574-4450 or 702-384-0771 to book your Gothic Style Wedding on Friday the 13th. (Also, it’s not too early to book those Halloween weddings, folks… It’s good luck to plan ahead! )
Here’s the first in a series of interviews with the friendly and talented crew at Viva Las Vegas Weddings. We thought you’d like to get to know our wedding staffers a bit better as we highlight their stories here on the blog. And please feel free to ask questions in the comments section, if you’d like to learn more about the wide range of services each staff member can provide for your upcoming wedding!
“I LOVE just about everything about my work at Viva Las Vegas Weddings,” exclaims professional wedding planner/wedding coordinator Blaze. Blaze is a rarity in the Wedding Capital of the World–he’s a native Las Vegan, and he’s been with us at Viva Las Vegas Wedding Chapel for nearly two years. Blaze has become an amiable, familiar face to many couples who’ve recently passed through our doors to be married. “My favorite part of the job is assembling the sets and props for the various themed weddings. People don’t realize that we can completely change the look of the chapel from a Gothic graveyard setting to an Old West scene for our Western weddings. And it all takes place in the blink of an eye!”
Blaze is also the guy who coordinates many of the more traditional weddings here. Every day he walks couples through their paces before their guests are seated, making sure the bride has her bouquet and the groom’s boutonniere is pinned on correctly. Blaze has an amazing knack for putting nervous couples at ease, “talking them down” and soothing any anxiety about the ceremony.
Blaze brings to the chapel his background as a makeup artist, too. His skills with a cosmetic brush plus his innate flair for the theatrical come in really handy for the chapel’s Halloween weddings. “Everyone on staff gets into costume and character on that night. I’m always here to give a helping hand for Zombie Elvis, Dracula, Frankenstein–even a classic glamour makeup is sometimes required!”
When asked about his least favorite part of the job, Blaze admits, “Sometimes the in-laws can be a little too involved, often making brides and grooms unnecessarily anxious, or upsetting the couple because the advice they’re getting is NOT what they had in mind.” He explains that being tactful with in-laws-to-be is not always easy, and sometimes getting a message across may not go perfectly. “We try to explain that the wedding day belongs to the brides and grooms. To us, they come first.”
We asked Blaze about the funniest thing he’s seen at a wedding, since a chapel with dozens of Elvis, themed and even traditional weddings can attest to a unique story to tell about each and every ceremony. “Once on a really busy weekend, the chapel owner Ron Decar was making a quick change from a tailored minister’s suit to a bustier, lipstick and pearls to play Dr. Frank-N-Furter in one of our Rocky’s Horror themed weddings. Well, Ron was throwing on his costume pieces as fast as he could, and with big, frantic eyes, he called out, ‘It’s SHOW-bizzy!”
Blaze describes the WORST thing he’s seen happen–NOT very funny at the time, but somehow hilarious in retrospect: “On a really hot summer day, we were getting ready to do an Elvis wedding with a pink Cadillac entrance. Just before the doors of the chapel were thrown open so Elvis could drive the couple down the aisle, we heard a HUGE explosion from outside. When we opened the doors, there was ‘Elvis” in a big cloud of black smoke standing by the backfiring car. It was a real mess!” Somehow, everything turned out fine in the end…
Just as in ANY wedding, the little disasters often make the wedding more memorable, and generally it IS funny, AFTER the fact! More than 99% of the time, though, things go off without a hitch.
What’s Blaze’s best advice for Las Vegas brides and grooms? “Make sure your wedding is all about YOU. It’s easy to try to please family members and make compromises, but ultimately you want the wedding that expresses who YOU are. And that’s something we’re here to help with.”
If you’re planning to elope or even to have a big, elegant wedding here at one of Viva Las Vegas’s chapels, look for Blaze and say “hello!” He’ll have lots of stories to tell, and he’ll certainly want to hear yours!
May the Fourth Weddings in Vegas are almost upon us, and our “Wars” character impersonator ministers will be marrying and renewing vows for fans of the “Dark Side” who want to tie the intergalactic knot on that iconic date. But we also do “darker-side” weddings all year long. Our Intergalactic Themed Weddings are a hit with couples in every season, and the same is true for our VERY popular Gothic Themed Wedding. The package includes flowers (black, of course), haunting music and fog in a tombstone-bedecked cemetery, photography and video, plus round-trip limousine transportation. Dracula, the Grim Reaper, Elvira or Zombie Elvis marry you in a chilling ceremony that’s to die for! The sinister minister of your choice will step out of a coffin to perform your wedding ceremony by eerie candlelight. Add online streaming for those who can’t come to the graveyard in person…
Don’t forget that costumes are practically de-rigueur for these dark-sided affairs…or at least consider a black bridal gown and veil. If you want to go full-on theatrical, fans of Rocky Horror might check out our “Rocky’s Horror” Themed Wedding, complete with live (mostly) musical production numbers. We’ll customize any of our packages to suit your particular tastes, too. To see all of our themed wedding packages, dark or otherwise, visit us at www.vivalasvegasweddings.com
