Same-Sex Couples May Soon Get Married Legally in Nevada!

Same sex marriages and receptions in Las vegas
Fingers crossed, we hope to celebrate everyone’s wedding soon! How ’bout sliders and floats in our Doo Wop Dier after your legal Las Vegas wedding? We’re keeping the grill fired up…

Breaking News from Viva Las Vegas Weddings!

We know. Although Viva Las Vegas Wedding Chapel has performed commitment ceremonies in Las Vegas for the past 16 years, it’s still hard for some people to believe that same-sex marriage is not yet legal in the State of Nevada. After all, we’re the wedding capital of the universe. And besides—it’s Vegas! Well, folks, it looks like that’s all about to change!

In Carson City Nevada, a ruling from the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals has found Nevada’s ban on same-sex marriage to be unconstitutional. This is likely to make gay marriage legal in Las Vegas and all across Nevada. This could happen almost immediately after today’s arguments are heard in the case of Sevcik v. Sandoval.

Already in cases in Pennsylvania and Oregon, federal appeals courts have found same-sex marriage bans unconstitutional. When those states decided, as they recently have in Nevada, not to challenge attempts to overturn the bans, the rulings immediately went into effect. In fact, the rulings were denied all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court.

For us at Viva Las Vegas, we’re thrilled to (soon) offer (finally!) full-on legal marriage ceremonies in the only gay-owned wedding chapel in Las Vegas. We are ready and excited to become part of history in Nevada. We look forward to booking your legal wedding with us, and we hope we’ll see some of our many memorable LGBT couples returning to take their vows with us again, but legally this time. Become part of history with us!

We understand that our Marriage Bureau is already prepared with new forms that do not refer to “bride” or “groom,” but instead to “party 1” and “party 2.” Let’s ALL party!

Viva Las Vegas extends its deepest gratitude to our Nevada State Sen. Tick Segerblom, D-Las Vegas, who has been seeking the legalization of same-sex marriage through Senate Joint Resolution 13 for quite some time. If the 9th Circuit offers up a favorable decision, our chapel will be performing legal same-sex weddings very soon. According to Sen. Segerblom, “I think marriages could occur fairly quickly, absolutely. I think everyone is ready for this.”

Gay marriage in Las Vegas,
Hope blooms eternal that marriage will soon be legal for any two persons who want to spend their lives as one

Whatever your feelings about same-sex marriage, we at Viva Las Vegas believe in choice, and the freedom of any two people to express their love and to bind their lives together in the way they choose. It’s all about love, a feeling only decided by the two people who happen to be in love.We respect that. And we will rejoice for everyone’s happiness.

We’ll keep you updated after today’s oral arguments are heard….
