A Visit With Viva Las Vegas Wedding Chapel Owner Ron Decar

Ron Decar Viva Las Vegas
Elvis? Dracula? Business Owner? It’s all in a day’s work for Ron!

You might not recognize him in some of his many roles as Viva Las Vegas Wedding Chapel owner, but if you’re getting married here in Vegas, there’s an excellent chance you’ll spot him disguised as Elvis, Merlin the Magician, The Godfather, or even James Bond.

With all the hats he wears, we’re pretty sure Ron Decar has hardly slept since opening the chapel nearly 16 years ago. Before that time, he spent almost two decades performing as a lead singer in shows on the Las Vegas Strip, including 12 years as principal singer and host of the Folies Bergere at the Tropicana Hotel.

How did Ron get the idea to open his own chapel? Well, early in his Vegas singing career, Decar realized that there was a niche for Elvis impersonators at Strip wedding chapels— vocalists who could sing iconic Elvis songs while performing wedding ceremonies for couples who were up for fun and exciting Vegas- style weddings. Ron looked the part, and, man, did he have the voice! So, he ordered a custom glitzy jumpsuit and portable sound equipment. Moonlighting as Elvis by day (driving to chapels in his vintage pink Cadillac convertible), Decar continued to work as a Las Vegas show emcee by night for several years.

When the opportunity came to invest in his very own chapel right on The Strip, it was really a no-brainer. Says Ron, “I wanted to be able to give couples the full theatrical experience. And a choice. Not just Elvis weddings, but fantastic themes, with theatrical lights, fog, sets, the works. And I wanted every couple to feel special and to have exactly what they imagined for their ceremony. After all, it’s their wedding day!”

Here’s a short video clip of Ron, proudly giving a mini-tour of his Viva Las Vegas Wedding Chapel:

Ron’s latest addition to the chapel is the adjacent Viva Las Vegas Event Center. Here, couples can book large and lavish wedding receptions with “the works” as far as entertainment, dining and dancing goes. And, in keeping with Ron’s wealth of experience in the entertainment field, the Event Center is also becoming a hot new venue for lounge and cabaret shows, Big Band dance nights with live musicians, dinner theater productions and everything imaginable. As if Ron didn’t already have enough to do…

There are almost unlimited options for brides and grooms at Viva Las Vegas Weddings, thanks to Ron’s inventiveness, drive and incredible work ethic. Despite all the fun and craziness, “Viva” still focuses heavily on exquisite traditional ceremonies in the Main Chapel and outdoor Garden and Gazebo Chapels. But, it’s nice to know you can still have Elvis, Austin Powers, or even James Bond make an appearance on your wedding day. See all of our fantastic traditional, Elvis and Themed wedding packages at

So, if you’re booking a wedding with us at Viva Las Vegas, keep your eyes peeled for Ron. He’ll probably be rushing by on his way to a costume change. But, if you greet him with a “Hi, Ron,” he’ll almost always flash you the biggest smile ever. The man is living the dream. 🙂

Even if you haven’t booked a Gangster Themed Wedding at Viva Las Vegas Wedding Chapel, join us the First Friday in May at Viva Las Vegas Event Center. We’ll have a live Big Band playing all the hits from the era, swing dance lessons, and a yummy selection of food and drink.

The fun begins with professionally-taught swing dance lessons at 6pm, followed by dining and dancing until 9pm. The $25 cover charge gets you in and includes the lesson. After that, we’ll suggest some of our great drink and gourmet food selections, a la carte. Stuff yourself, or eat light, whatever makes your evening perfect. (Food and drink specials are an extra charge.)

This event will take place every First Friday through summer. So, wedding couples who plan ahead might consider combining Gangster or Elvis (or other) wedding package with a night of romance and dancing. The Event Center is right next door to the wedding chapel, so if it’s just the two of you, or just you and a few family members, the Big Band experience can double as a kind of impromtu ‘reception.’

Of course, we also host pre-planned wedding receptions of all sizes, both in our intimate reception room and in the Event Center. It all depends on the size of your wedding party and the degree of elaborateness of your wedding reception. We have almost TOO many choices. For more information on our weddings and receptions, visit us at

Take a peek at the fun at our last Big Band night at Viva Las Vegas. And we hope we’ll see you there on May 2nd!

The Las Vegas Elvis Wedding Seen ‘Round the World!

Elvis wedding in Vegas seen streaming live
Christina and Tony exchanged vows on April 19th with online streaming coverage on their own wedding website!

Don’t let this lighthearted photo fool you. Christina and Tony had the most elegant Las Vegas wedding with a proper minister. But, they threw in a fabulous Pink Caddy entrance with fog, cheering guests, and Elvis singing a sweet ballad and rockin’ favorites. All of it was streamed live on the Internet on the couple’s free Viva Las Vegas Weddings website, where they’d posted great pics and their romantic love story for friends and family to see.

Elvis wedding bride
Tony proposed to Christina at the restaurant where they’d had their first date, MANY years before.

Bride Christina wore a white off-the-shoulder dress with a flirty flared hem. She carried striking red roses, while Tony looked dashing in a white summery jacket and red rose boutonniere. This pair had been on-and-off sweethearts since dating a bit in high school. As they said on their wedding website, “Twenty-five years later, it’s finally the right time.”

Vegas Elvis wedding groom
Tony and “The King”–It’s no surprise this couple opted for an Elvis Wedding in Vegas!

Remember when it comes time to tie the knot, we can customize every aspect of your wedding YOUR way, and you can keep it as private or as public an affair as you wish. Your wedding can be seen all over the planet, or it can be just the two of you and Elvis, the minister, or any darned wedding officiant you can dream up. For more information, visit our website at

Our best wishes go out to Christina and Tony. We’ll see you in 25 more years for your amazing wedding vow renewal!

Sharing Elvis and Priscilla’s Las Vegas Wedding Anniversary!

Elvis chauffeur for Vegas wedding
Elvis, does Priscilla know about all the hot babes going to the chapel in your car?
Coming up May 1st will be the 47th wedding anniversary of Elvis Presley and his beautiful bride, Priscilla! They were married in Las Vegas at the former Aladdin Hotel, now Planet Hollywood. We’ve got some of the nostalgic footage, below.

We’ve been doing Elvis weddings (as well as the traditional ones) at Viva Las Vegas Weddings for over 15 years, so we know to expect a few Priscilla’s and Elvi walking down the aisle on that iconic date. (We also arrange for costumes and wigs, for those enthusiastic fans who want to dress up as E & P for their own Vegas wedding.) For those die-hard Elvis fans, sharing an anniversary with Priscilla and The King makes choosing a wedding date a no-brainer. (Elvis’s birthday is pretty big day at Viva Las Vegas Wedding Chapel, too!)

Believe it or not, our Elvis weddings are done in the most elegant traditional style. Some couples prefer a licensed minister to officiate, with Elvis singing a romantic ballad during the vows. But most fans want Elvis to perform the ceremony instead, even if the bride is in a formal gown and the groom’s wearing tails. Our newest package is called “Elvis Picks You Up.” You can be chauffeured to your wedding by The King himself in his vintage ’64 Pink Caddy!

It’s Spring Break and….Middle School Sweethearts Get Married in Las Vegas!

Elvis Wedding Couple
Louisa and Rollin got hitched by Elvis in Vegas on April 12th!

Okay, Louisa and Rollin have KNOWN each other since middle school, but after years of playing hard-to-get and, ultimately, discovering that they are soulmates, the two decided on a fun and affordable Las Vegas wedding. Since Louisa and Rollin brought lots of friends and family members from the Inland Empire to witness their ceremony, they opted to wed in our large and picturesque Main Chapel. We think it’s the most elegant place in Vegas to get married by Elvis!

Many of the guests wore the bridal colors of red and black, so those wedding photos are going to look sharp! We love it when guests dress up to support a color or theme. That way, everyone feels like a part of the bride and groom’s special day!

Louisa and Rollin’s love story clearly wasn’t one of love at first sight. (Unless Louisa was in years of denial!) After Louisa turned down pleas to be Rollin’s girl EVERY year of high school, she finally gave in…and the rest is history. Rollin proposed at the top of the ferris wheel on the Santa Monica Pier–a complete surprise for Louisa, who was only expecting dinner and a drive-in movie.

Vegas Wedding Couple
Rollin was pretty patient with Louisa’s hard-to-get act 🙂

This stunning couple chose spring break week here in Vegas to get hitched. All this week, Elvis will have his hands full marrying loving young couples at our romantic Viva Las Vegas Wedding Chapel. But, with this gorgeous spring weather, our Gazebo and Garden Chapels are smokin’ busy, too! Spring is a great time to be in love, and to be married in fabulous Las Vegas. It’s fun, affordable, and you’re already staying in the most exciting city on the planet for a honeymoon. Viva Las Vegas!

Viva Las Vegas Event Center Hosts Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis Tribute Artists!

If you’re a fan of Martin and Lewis, you’ll be blown away, as we were, by tribute artists Tom Stevens (as Dean Martin) and Tony Lewis (as Jerry Lewis). They were featured recently in our regular Swingin’ Sundays at the brand new Viva Las Vegas Event Center, just around the corner from our Viva Las Vegas Wedding Chapel.

This amazing pair had been working successful solo acts for years, until Tony Lewis, all the way down under in Australia, spotted Stevens’ as Dean Martin on YouTube. Lewis called Stevens in Las Vegas, and the two talked about teaming up. Their uncanny performance gave us goosebumps, and brought back fond memories of two iconic Vegas legends. Have a look at a snippet of their incredible act, below:

Just next door to our Vegas chapel, we’ve got a full line-up of incredible talent just about every night of the week at Viva’s gorgeous Event Center. You can also choose to host your traditional wedding reception there, since we’ve got a full-service gourmet caterer, classic Las Vegas bar and lounge, and custom cake bakery. You can even book amazing musical and performance artists to entertain at your wedding. It’s a Vegas-style wedding reception no one will EVER stop talking about! (Yes, we also have the most fabulous menu and beverage options available anywhere!)
