First there was the finger snapping and the smoke. Then the groom, Axel, and his bride, Heike (carrying a fetching bouquet of jet black roses) strolled down the tombstone-bedecked aisle where Uncle Fester as best man, and Thing as pall…um…ring bearer stood by. It was creepy, it was kooky, mysterious and spooky and all that. Gomez performed the rites while Morticia clipped the blooms off red roses in a black vase.
Just as Halloween approaches, this beautifully gloomy example of a customized themed wedding at Viva Las Vegas Wedding Chapel oozed into something we think others might want as a backdrop for their own vows. With just a few tweaks, we can make our Gothic Wedding ceremony into one that caters to Addams Family values. Or, if you are a Munsters, Twilight, or Friday the13th fan, we’ll fix you right up!
After the ceremony was over, Axel and Heike (all the way from Germany to do this!) danced the tango back down the aisle, followed by Tish and Gomez. It was a perfectly ghastly sight. So we’ll share photos, taken by Uncle Fester. They’re a bit fuzzy…It was quite dark in the chapel, and the lightbulb in his mouth was not working…We think he had a short.
Best wishes for a happy and wondrously unique life together, Heike und Axel! Viel Glück, mit den besten Wünschen!
Autumn is officially here, a time when the weather is typically breathtaking in Las Vegas. If it’s just the two of you, or if you have only a limo-full of guests, we think one of the most romantic weddings we offer at Viva Las Vegas Wedding Chapel takes place just outside the city, and at sunset.
You’ll be whisked away from your hotel in one of our limousines, taken 20 miles west of Las Vegas into the gorgeous Red Rock Canyon. Your bouquet, minister, photographer and videographer will all be there to meet you. Your ceremony and your photo session will take place before some of the most stunning scenery in Southern Nevada.
The Beautiful Red Rock Wedding package also includes champagne glasses for toasting afterward, and the required National Park Service fee. You’ll need to book two weeks ahead to make all the arrangements to be married on this special site.
On your way back to Las Vegas in your stretch limo (if you do marry at sundown) you’ll enjoy an exciting panoramic view of the lights of Las Vegas just as they are coming on. Plus, you can have gourmet candlelit dining reservations waiting back at your hotel. Perfect!
Visit https://www.vivalasvegasweddings.com/redrock_wedding.htm to check out this unique traditional wedding package. And feel free to call us with any questions. We’ll be happy to take care of every detail for you to make this your dream wedding in the glorious desert sunset! 702-384-0771
Okay, we are using a bit of Enquirer journalism here…But we do love it at Viva Las Vegas Wedding Chapel when guests go all out to costume themselves for a themed wedding. Recently Celine and Louis Poulin of Canada renewed their wedding vows after 25 years of marriage, and they did it Vulcan style. We think. We’re not sure. But they, and all their guests, donned green ears for our Intergalactic themed wedding and were among the most fun-loving of groups we’ve had the pleasure to share company with.
Sadly, many friends and family could not take part. According to Celine, the bride, they were scattered all across Canada and elsewhere. But, luckily, all were able to watch live and streaming online, directly from our Las Vegas wedding chapel!
We are fortunate to be able to share a wedding photo of the couple from 1988. You have to smile when you think that there is NO WAY they could ever have known that a quarter of a century later they’d make a departure from such a traditional ceremony and re-exchange wedding vows with our Captain Quirk, and wearing green ears to boot! Life has its moments!
We wish the Poulins 25 more years of happiness. You have to wonder how they’ll celebrate their 50th. But we were especially delighted to be there for their amazingly fun Silver Anniversary celebration. Best wishes to one of our happiest couples ever!
At Viva Las Vegas Wedding Chapel, we like to think our ministers bring a touch of refined dignity to our traditional marriage ceremonies, demonstrating a level of joy and compassion appropriate to the occasion. Themed or Elvis weddings, however, generally leave the licensed minister out of the spotlight during the actual ceremony. For those weddings, Elvis, Merlin, Dracula, or any of a wide range of characters do the honors instead. When it comes to Reverend Robb, though, he’s more than happy to step up to the plate.
In more than 12 years marrying couples in Las Vegas, Robb has many stories to tell. While his traditional ceremonies are particularly insightful and touching, he’s had a few wacky episodes at the altar, too. For example, due to his resemblance to Patrick Stewart of Star Trek: The Next Generation fame, Rev. Robb has donned the uniform and married couples for space-themed Intergalactic Weddings. (And what a pro! Rev. Robb has actually super-glued his fingers together for these ceremonies, since he claims he’s physically unable to do the hand sign for “Live long and prosper.”) If called upon to do a Beach Party themed wedding, Robb tosses on a sun-streaked wig and says “dude” a lot during the vows. If you know him as well as we do, you’ll find this hilarious.
Reverend Robb has been a minister in Las Vegas for over 25 years and graduated with a degree in theology from Vanguard University. There, a professor once told him regarding marriage, “Don’t look for someone else to make you happy. That’s too much of a burden to put on anyone. You must first find happiness within yourself.” What important advice would Robb give to couples who are planning to marry? “Focus on being the right person, not on finding the right person.”
Asked what he finds the best part of being a Las Vegas wedding minister, Robb says, “I love the excitement, and I love being around people. Knowing the wedding business as well as I do, it’s really gratifying to be able to disarm the anxieties people are feeling right before the ceremony. I always tell them, ‘I’m never going to leave you guessing what to do next.'”
What’s his most memorable wedding? “There are so many! But I do remember a very nervous bride who sneezed just before placing the ring on her groom’s finger. She put her hand, with the ring still on her own finger, up to her nose to block the sneeze.” Robb continued to explain how he put her at ease after that awkward moment. He calmly said, “That should slip right on now!” Laughter ensued, and all nervousness was gone.
Most awkward blunder? “I mistakenly referred to a groom by the name of Steve, the groom from the previous ceremony. As if that wasn’t bad enough, Steve happened to be the name of the bride’s first husband.” Awkward!
Favorite ceremony to do? “Vow renewals. I love doing them. It is so significant and special when two people value their relationship so much that they marry all over again.”
Strangest request? “Well, once the rings were attached to a dog’s collar, and I had to bend down and take them off.”
Clearly, there are few dull moments in the life of a Las Vegas wedding minister. Still…
One day the chapel was frantically busy, and Reverend Robb was asked if he could help assemble boutonnieres for the next wedding. He did such a beautiful job…You know the story, if you do a job TOO well… Robb found himself arranging bouquets between weddings to pass the time, just because he enjoys it. Even though his arrangements are as beautiful and endearing as his vows, Reverend Robb’s first priority is officiating weddings, and putting couples at ease on the happiest day of their lives.
Oh no, again with the kleenex! Recently we heard from a lovely California couple who renewed their wedding vows with us at Viva Las Vegas Wedding Chapel. While every couple marrying in Las Vegas has a unique story, we don’t often get to hear how they met, or when they first realized they were destined to share their lives together. We’ll let Marianna tell us about her husband and soulmate, Tim:
“My husband and I met five years ago while I was working at a small real estate office. He walked in one day and asked me if I could find him a house. He was in his Air Force uniform. When I looked up and saw him for the first time, I knew then and there we were meant to be together. As we were talking, I looked at the name on his uniform, Newman. Coincidentally, my uncle had married a Newman 35 years ago, when I was a little girl. So I jokingly said, ‘Do you know Dottie Newman?’ To which he replied, ‘Yes, that’s my aunt.’
I was flabbergasted. I had known his family for over 30 years! My uncle and his aunt were the loves of a lifetime. My uncle has passed on, and now our families are joined again.”
Marianna continues, “My husband is from the East and I am from the West. Although Tim has traveled all over the world, for us to have both ended up in this small town is amazing. To make a long story short, we were married, and now we renew our vows every year. In fact, we renewed our vows at a Viva Las Vegas Elvis wedding in January 2012.”
But there’s more to this story:
“In September of 2012, I was rushed to the emergency room where I almost died. My kidneys were failing, among other things. My husband slept by my side for 12 days, never leaving the hospital until I was discharged. During the last year, Tim has helped me recover, and we are planning our wedding renewal for this year. My husband kneels beside me in bed every night and prays and thanks God for me, as I do for him. He was the other half of me. We are complete now, and will be together until death and beyond. My husband and I are destined to be together.”
Our best wishes for continued good health and happiness to Marianna and Tim. May we see you for many more wedding vow renewals. Thank you for sharing your touching story with us.
Yes, we do Vegas-style bachelor and bachelorette parties at Viva Las Vegas Weddings. And we’ll even customize a surprise Elvis marriage proposal in the location of your choosing. We’re happy to accommodate all the preliminaries, as well your traditional or Elvis marriage ceremony itself. In short, we’ll bend over backward to make every aspect of your Las Vegas wedding as unique and memorable as you deserve.
Not only do we bend over backward, but one Elvis has even taken a full body slam in the name of love. Really. See below, bearing in mind that one lucky bride actually married one of these guys….
This video may be better than a temperance lecture for curbing a person’s alcohol intake. What happens in Vegas…sometimes makes us think about hiring a wedding chapel bouncer.
Seriously, we wish the happy couple all the best. We honestly believe the groom got a lot out of his system at his (slightly boisterous) Viva Las Vegas Bachelor Party, and maybe the WWE will be giving him a call.
For more information on our bachelor and bachelorette parties, visit the website or call us at 702-384-0771. We promise, most of our pre-nuptial parties are thrilling and full of Vegas excitement, but a little more subdued than this one.
